Reggia di Venaria Reale, Venaria Reale

4.1
Explore Reggia di Venaria Reale, a 17th-century palace built for Charles Emmanuel II as a base for his hunting expeditions. History had taken its toll here; the structure only opened to the public in 2007 after one of the European Union's largest cultural restoration projects. Wander through the palace's permanent exhibit, Theater of History and Magnificence, which takes you through some of the most impressive rooms. Begin in the 17th-century Hall of Diana, continue through to the Great Gallery, and then move on to the Church of St. Hubert. The accompanying soundtrack by Brian Eno and the multimedia installations on court life make this an informative and atmospheric walk. Stretch your legs in the palace's 50 hectares (123.5 acres) of gardens. You'll find cafes, restaurants and a bookshop on site. • We had a morning visit to the Royal Palace. Since February there was little people and then we enjoyed the visit. Beautiful some rooms more than others. Pity that the grounds (being out of season) were not at their best, to visit anyway to see the installations.

  • We visited the Venaria; We followed the tour you could book when buying tickets. Roberto was our young and knowledgeable guide. We did appreciate the history of the Savoy, of Turin, of the building, with its secrets and the events that have brought this culture heritage of all visitors and citizens.

  • The Palace of Venaria is something magnificent, that everyone should go and see. The cost is about €15, and includes a trip through the history of this building by the Kingdom of Savoy till nowadays. Wars, famines, construction, covenants, use, everything is explained by the guides and the captions. The building is remarkable in the eyes, really nice detail. Also you can go to visit the Royal gardens that are great that no end in sight, even li deserve to lose time to visit them all between flowery fields and buildings.

  • Beautiful. It was an amazing and lovely experience. I enjoyed it and I would love to come back. It's enormous, there's so much to see!
  • Beautiful historical palace of the Savoy family. A must go see to understand the European history for this area of northern Italy and the power playing of the European monarchs.
  • The place is really beautiful, but we have chosen the option "summer's nights" (10€ per ticket) having access from 7pm and it is not worthy: the gardens are completely dark and not only you can not appreciate the environment, but also it's not safe walking without any lights. Anyway the fountain show at 11:15pm is really nice, even if it is a bit late and it lasts only 12 minutes.
  • Huge and tiresome. But beautiful. Get your sneakers on otherwise you'll deeply regret not being extra comfortable in yours shoes after 4 hours of walking
  • Impressive palace, (got to see that checked black and white marble floor), full of Savoy family history. Important milestone of the Piedmont region sighseeing. Don't try to search for the fountain in the northern part of the gardens, it doesn't exist anymore.
