La Venaria Reale, Venaria Reale

(2,800+ reviews on the web)
Historic Site Landmark
Explore La Venaria Reale, a 17th-century palace built for Charles Emmanuel II as a base for his hunting expeditions. History had taken its toll here; the structure only opened to the public in 2007 after one of the European Union's largest cultural restoration projects. Wander through the palace's permanent exhibit, Theater of History and Magnificence, which takes you through some of the most impressive rooms. Begin in the 17th-century Hall of Diana, continue through to the Great Gallery, and then move on to the Church of St. Hubert. The accompanying soundtrack by Brian Eno and the multimedia installations on court life make this an informative and atmospheric walk. Stretch your legs in the palace's 50 hectares (123.5 acres) of gardens. You'll find cafes, restaurants and a bookshop on site. • If you go to Venaria Reale, it's probably best not to go on a holiday weekend. We did. But having waited a while to get into the carpark, and queued for a longer while to buy tickets, I have to say th...  more »
  • We went to Reggia di Venaria in August 2016 for 2 consecutive days, since our hotel was in Turin. The entire place is breathtaking, a lot of art and culture to take in. Please take your time to visit ...  more »
  • I went there in May, the day was sunny, and everything was perfect. This is a must see if you are in Turin, it is really close to the city. Definitely a recommendation.  more »

  • Monumental Baroque palace and royal hunting lodge. Museum contains informative multimedia introduction to the Savoy Dynasty and their palaces. Huge gardens. The gallery was particularly impressive.
  • There are many interesting sculptures and installations in the territory around the palace. The dancing fountain show is amazing: music, colors, water! The rest (park and palace buildings) is quite boring.
  • Amazing. Went there in two completely different occasions. The first, during the MTV music awards, showed me a perfect integration of the structure in the modern world. The second, during summer, for a showcase of photography, let me speechless.
  • Wonderful! It was such an amazing and lovely experience. I enjoyed the half of the exhibits, it was a perfect timing when we reached the garden with the arrival of the dusk, after that there was nothing much interesting anymore (at least for me) though there were still a lot to see. All in all I enjoyed it and I would totally come back. It's enormous, there's so much to see!
  • Very pretty. Great place to pass a lovely day with the person that you love.
