Trip Planner: Europe / Italy / Piedmont / Province of Turin / Venaria Reale / Historic Sites / La Venaria Reale
Explore La Venaria Reale, a 17th-century palace built for Charles Emmanuel II as a base for his hunting expeditions. History had taken its toll here; the structure only opened to the public in 2007 after one of the European Union's largest cultural restoration projects. Wander through the palace's permanent exhibit, Theater of History and Magnificence, which takes you through some of the most impressive rooms. Begin in the 17th-century Hall of Diana, continue through to the Great Gallery, and then move on to the Church of St. Hubert. The accompanying soundtrack by Brian Eno and the multimedia installations on court life make this an informative and atmospheric walk. Stretch your legs in the palace's 50 hectares (123.5 acres) of gardens. You'll find cafes, restaurants and a bookshop on site. As per title, it reminded me of the Palace of Versailles, of course in small, but it has nothing to envy to the older sister, indeed. Advice, recommend, your visit to this architectural masterpiece, you won't regret it.View original

The cost of admission seems exaggerated (16 euros to visit the Palace and gardens), when compared with the immense works on display at the Louvre, the Musée d'Orsay, the Pompidou Center the fare (approximately 16-17 euros). Very large Palace and unfortunately just as unadorned: no brochures at the entrance (apparently exist, but were finished!), no particular information in each room of which any tourist would surely have appreciated. Gardens under construction (with attached excavations), unfortunately "pare" also doesn't help. Outside, in a cage that leaves little room for movement, you can see 4 peacocks (two males and two females), which honestly I would rather see freely around those huge gardens. The building structure of the Palace is definitely a large value, as indeed the history related to the paintings exposed (without much effort explaining). Great sadness, because you were my expectations. P.s. I didn't appreciate the significant price difference for the bus that usually tourists and teenagers use to get from Turin Center to the famous Palace: the price changes from 1.70 from Tuesday to Friday, excluding public holidays and costs 7 euros!).View original
Impressionante la dimensione della Reggia e del parco tutto molto bello ma per vedere tutto ci vorrebbero dei giorni, certo i reali non badavano a spese meno male che adesso sono tornati "normali" more »Impressive the size of the Palace and Park all very nice but to see everything it would take days, some real good thing i paid attention to costs now are back "normal"View original
Wonderful! It was such an amazing and lovely experience. I enjoyed the half of the exhibits, it was a perfect timing when we reached the garden with the arrival of the dusk, after that there was nothing much interesting anymore (at least for me) though there were still a lot to see. All in all I enjoyed it and I would totally come back. It's enormous, there's so much to see!
Very pretty. Great place to pass a lovely day with the person that you love.
Often interesting exhibits and great concerts took place inside this beautiful former royal residence.
Not to miss royal palace nearby Torino. It is a small Versailles!!!! Great garden, great palace!!!! There are also always 2 exibition, art photography fashion jewellery. ... You can spend here an entire day! You will be satisfied for sure!
