  • Fantastic Basilica! This place was much larger than I thought it would be. Tall ceilings with marble everywhere. Make sure to walk through the crypts. The Popes are enterned below the Basilica. The stairs are difficult to find. Behind the left pillar, across from the sacristy is a corral that wearing around the pillar to a staircase along the side. This leads below. Do this last as the crypt exits the Basilica.
  • Just wow. Arrive early as the queues are huge. Dress appropriately or you will be stopped by security. Once your in everything you touch or look at is a master piece. The scale is off the chart it's a good few hours to see everything and a full day if you want to see the museum also. If yoir going to the top part of the dome I would suggest you do this first because walking around all day then to face a few hundred stairs isn't fun in that heat. Another must see when in Rome.
  • I enjoyed this part of the visit to the Vatican much more than the rest. The line moved reasonably quickly - bring an umbrella for shade on a hot day - and it wasn't too crowded inside. It is beautiful, full of history, and there is a strong spiritual presence (if you are into that sort of thing)
  • Nice place. Get very early there is the TOP tip. Around 10h is a crazy crowd. You can go till the top of the dome walking - no issue (with 40 years old was easy). Check in the pictures how hight you can go! Outside pictures let for the end, when you're free and the light is better.
  • One of the most spectacular churches in the world. The entry is free but there can be long queues (of two or three hours) so it's worth using one of the paid fast-track options. There is so much to see inside, I would suggest leaving between one and two hours to go through it all properly.
