  • After a small security check and a brief conversation with the guards of the Swiss Guard, we were allowed to pass in the direction of Campo Santo Teutonico. When you enter this place, one seems to dive into a botanical garden. Palm trees, flowers and various birds make this place a special experience in the area of the St. Peter's Basilica. That's a cemetery is, it is almost forgotten. An absolute must when visiting the Vatican...

  • In the morning until about 12:00 it is permitted to enter the Vatican City German-speaking. Best go left to the portico and asks a Swiss Guard for the cemetery. This cemetery is a fixed point when each Rome trip for me.

  • The Teutonic Cemetery there are buried many allemanes, hence its name, is little known. Is located to the side left of the exterior of the Basilica of San Pedro. There are tombs ancient and other more modern, surrounded of gardens well care and also there near a chapel that has images funeral that impress, is very original, nothing similar to them others Temploos or Basilicas that there is in Rome. This Chapel reminds me of the fragility of human life; I have visited in 2007, 2008 and 2013, there is always some detail that had not observed. Visit recommended in the trip to the Vatican.
