Outdoor Activity
The Calà del Sasso is a path leading down from the village of Sasso di Asiago towards the town of Valstagna in Italy. It has 4444 steps, is 7km long, and is the longest staircase in Italy as well as the world's longest staircase open to the public. The highest and lowest points on the path differ by 744 m. Next to the staircase runs a gully. Both gully and steps are paved in limestone. The gully was used to transport timber from Sasso downhill. Once in Valstagna, Calà del sasso ends near the river Brenta, where the logs were floated to Venice where they were used in the Arsenale for the construction of boats.

  • Nice walk ... I personally do not recommend for children because they were too tiring especially for the descent

  • I always heard about these steps and when I decided to "deal with them", I had underestimated. Is feasible for everyone, the only thing is not to get discouraged by the slopes and muscle aches. Is challenging, but get it with proper pauses, the arrival is a real achievement! Don't expect fountains, so the water is to take and it is important to hydrate it. The path is enchanted especially for religious points lying and statues carved in wood that are like a totem that encourage to move forward. I recommend really. Worth it!!! Ah ... think of the wooden pine and you're there!

  • We left the parking lot, and after the forest road we are on the staircase. I have to admit I was feeling facing the famous 4444 steps but I was amazed at x, which are low and courts, and despite the slope in 2 hours we drove on, and the descent always very cadenced (I felt bad for the knees operated all 2!) The trail characteristic and I tried a lot of respect x who many years ago they built, no cranes or helicopters, only to arms and back. I recommend it to everyone, even to boyfriends!
