Outdoor Activity
The Calà del Sasso is a path leading down from the village of Sasso di Asiago towards the town of Valstagna in Italy. It has 4444 steps, is 7km long, and is the longest staircase in Italy as well as the world's longest staircase open to the public. The highest and lowest points on the path differ by 744 m. Next to the staircase runs a gully. Both gully and steps are paved in limestone. The gully was used to transport timber from Sasso downhill. Once in Valstagna, Calà del sasso ends near the river Brenta, where the logs were floated to Venice where they were used in the Arsenale for the construction of boats.

  • We left the parking lot, and after the forest road we are on the staircase. I have to admit I was feeling facing the famous 4444 steps but I was amazed at x, which are low and courts, and despite the slope in 2 hours we drove on, and the descent always very cadenced (I felt bad for the knees operated all 2!) The trail characteristic and I tried a lot of respect x who many years ago they built, no cranes or helicopters, only to arms and back. I recommend it to everyone, even to boyfriends!

  • For some time I wanted to have this experience, and last year accompanied by his friend Egidio Enego fountain I finally achieve it. We started from Sasso di Asiago and my friend for health reasons, drove me just for a stretch, so I got off quite fast in approx 3-4 from now alone to the top of the stairs where you will find a stylish barn with tables only. From there after some photographs I started the climb soffernandomi to photograph the various parts of the route. On the way up I felt excited, I felt like I went back in time when people rose and fell along this cross. After an hour of uphill I met up with our friend Egidio to the starting point. I have to be honest, this emotion didn't try it. When about a week before together with his friend Mariano always of Enego, we made the same day the two Pioveghe of Enego, one above and one below. UA thing though I wonder, which long were the trunks that were being transferred off down the appropriate slide? NI wonder this because there are certain bends so narrow and almost to the elbow that I think is almost impossible to turn of the trunks are longer than 4-5 metres.

  • After 1 km of white road begins the climb to 2.3 km long steps and vertical drop of 700 meters. With other 600 meters you come into town to Rock where we find the bars and shops. Should be trained to do climb to not spoil the pleasure of the path through the Woods. Descent to do it carefully and if you are wearing boots is best for you to lay on the edges of the steps. Uphill and downhill I employed the same time pausing to look at points. Take to drink, to eat and change, especially in the fall. With the snow I see a little hard but with sticks and calm you can do.
