  • Therefore the House where Raphael was born in 1483 the great. The House is also known as the Holy House, his father Giovanni, humanist painter at the Court of the Montefeltro family, whose school was located in the same House and therefore contributed to the formation of the child in the early years. The architectural style which characterizes the building is typical of the 15th century Urbino with a brick façade where there are eight Windows on two orders, supplemented by two small Windows next to the front door, just to give light to the atrium. In the courtyard there is an air of workshop and it was definitely connected to the lab. The well is still around and a wash basin with traces left on his stone where the painters mixed and grind the pigments. On the first floor there is a big hall with coffered ceilings hand-painted a copy of the Madonna della Seggiola by Raphael and paintings by other artists. The room is a copy of Raphael's Madonna of the Christmas Book and a fresco of Madonna with child attributed to Raphael young, Moses saved from the waters, pen sketch always by Raphael, preparatory to the fresco in the Vatican loggias. The second floor housed the Raphael's Academy, founded in the 19th century with the aim of maintaining and preserving the building as well as promote studies and researches on the painter and artists of his time. The Academy, thanks to the contribution of private citizens and State bodies, could meanwhile be enriched by works and relics such as coins, rare editions and portraits, including also external productions, such as the Brera art gallery or in the Galleria Nazionale delle Marche. The visit is connected as it is to the figure of Raphael is very suggestive, not at all diminished by some changes (especially interiors) intervened over the centuries and the little original furnishing survived.

  • Interesting place, worth seeing if you are nearby. Admission is € 3,50. Several works of art by several famous artists including Raffaello
  • It may be a little boring and it is not that big. It is nice to see how 16th century houses looked like.
  • Great place, must to visit!!!
  • The furniture looks like the original, though the walls could do with a freshen up (you can see the traces of the electrical system). Very nice exhibits inside and the small courtyard. In the shop there are many interesting books. Overall a good experience.
