  • Externally is an impressive building, very nice, but the Interior disappoint. There is no guide or guided tour nor any explanation from two people that they were the experts present. It also lacks an audio guide. Us art lovers enjoyed watching and turn for rooms without knowing what we were seeing. The ticket is too expensive for the poor service it offers. We had read that there was an expert guide, you can see that only works in summer

  • This vast monumental complex, built entirely in brick, which stands majestically on a bend of the river Metauro, was at the same time fortress and Palace of the Court. Built on a 13th-century fortress, belonging to the family of Bampton, was restored by the military architect Francesco di Giorgio Martini in 1470, commissioned by Duke Federico II da Montefeltro, while Girolamo Genga made the most beautiful dining rooms of the Palace during the 16th century. In 1607; Francesco Maria Della Rovere laid the foundation stone to found the library, one of the richest in time, where were stored the printed books of the Duke of Urbino, over 15000 pieces. Today the building houses the Civic Museum that gathers a rich collection of ancient and contemporary ceramics, an art gallery with paintings of the 16th and 17th centuries by artists such marches and not. Also of note is the perfect engraving of 12 meters "The triumphal procession of Charles V" of the painter and engraver Nicola Hogenberg (1530). In addition the Museum offers the visitor a unique collection of printed maps in the 17th and 18th centuries and two famous Globes (a terrestrial and a celestial sphere) of Gerard Mercator, the greatest geographer and cartographer of the Renaissance. In the dungeons of the Palace houses the Museum of the history of agriculture, which traces the peasant life of the upper Valley of Metauro.
