  • I'd definitely recommend full marks and honours at the cooperative's guides and volunteer staff who take care of the place with competence and dedication; among other things helped me with great kindness to visit a little overtime. But we must give a reprimand to the Superintendence of archaeological heritage entrusted with the preservation of the site. The fossil trunks but not petrified, a rarity from 2-3 million years ago, are repaired by nasty sheds that do not absolve the main function to fix the weather. Conservation status gives worrisome signs of worsening. The place is still impressive and deserves greater attention. I suggest for visits to check on the website for schedules, being the place fenced and only accessible with a guide that provides explanations and exhaustive. Suitable for all although there is a very short walk, preferably in a dry day.

  • Is one of the 5 in the world, with fossilized remains of trees of the pleistocene. The place is unique in Italy, leads guided thanks to Guild leader lines. At the entrance there is a small museum which is well worth the visit, there are also some remains of animals that lived in the place, including a rhinoceros, an elephant and a kind of antelope. Thanks to the guides who accompanied us and explained the geological context of this part of Umbria! Deserves a proper valuation, do something to preserve most of this priceless heritage!

  • I wanted to visit this place, almost unknown (I just saw signs that pointed him out). Finally, and not without some difficulty found. Is an example of attraction almost unique and handy, but no one talks about. These are trees buried in mud 2-3 million years ago, and brought to light. I'm still (I'm not petrified as in almost all of the other finds) and preserving them unfortunately didn't last long. Very good our guide (Marta), passionate and prepared. The cost of the guided tour is ridiculously low (4 euros). Very suitable for families with children, but there is to do a quick walk on dirt road. I brought my dog (which, however, had to be kept on a leash). I think it is a must see: one hour absolutely well spent.
