  • For some reason most of the reviews about this sad place associate it only with the memory of the victims of the first world war. IM really devoted to the temple-monument on its façade in Arabic numerals marked years of Italy during the first World War: 1915-1917 Gg. This war in 1917 g. knowen to Udine-through this city in the autumn of 1917, Kaparetto (front on the river Isonzo) retreated to the frontier on the river Piave the Italian army. The losses in this battle for Italy were enormous. Majestic Temple-monument-a reminder of these victims. But in front of the temple there is another monument and other victims of the second world war. This monument of twisted iron on the edge of the step-pool fountain. On other dates: 1943-1945 Gg. -the period when Italy passed into allies and consequently received from Germany retaliation for treason. The victim here is not comparable to the victims of the first world war, but it is important that in Udine city authorities and attracted to the architects treat victims of both world wars as a shared tragedy. But the tourists to this fact almost ignored. The fountain is located inside the ring road interchange, and access to it is not so easy (only two pedestrian navigation). But visiting this object it is advisable to visit the temple-monument, and the monument-fountain, forming a single complex. Place the tragic and sad, but without its history visit Udine will be understood not in full.

  • The temple is a religious building in Udine and was built in the 1930s. The Church is located in piazzale XXVI Luglio: data memory of the entrance of the Italian troops in Udine, in 1886, at the end of the third war of independence. At the center of the square there is a monument to the resistance with a sculptural group. Positioned behind the facade there are four large and impressive statues that depict an alpino, a Jack, an airman and a sailor. The Interior, with three naves, is Grand, solemn, monumental. The pillars that divide the naves are in red granite. The Church has a very spacious crypt, I think is the biggest in Italy. On the walls of the crypt and on those of the chapels of the Church are inscribed the names of 25,000 Italian soldiers. Are buried inside the walls themselves after being exhumed from the many war cemeteries.
