  • The Tiepolo Gallery is worth a trip, a magnificent library, the oldest in Udine, 7 € spent well

  • The Diocesan Museum of Udine, still a bishopric, offers a pleasant and relaxing visit lasting between 30 minutes and an hour, along a path that crosses a part of environments of the patriarchal Palace. The Hall that impressed me the most is the splendid library, dating from the 18th century and full of volumes that the part followed the Patriarch of Aquileia in his wanderings through the Friuli. The most famous are frescoes by Tiepolo in the "Gallery", very well preserved, depicting biblical episodes within interesting perspective games. The Museum houses works of art originally placed in the churches of the diocese, churches partly collapsed or badly damaged during the earthquake of Gemona; among these some statues are distinguished by their poignant realism.

  • Established about from 50 years, the Diocesan Museum has established a little over 10 years patriarchal Palace, the Archbishop's residence today. The extraordinary beauty of the complex suggested calling it a Diocesan Museum and galleries of Tiepolo. The Museum has over 700 works and many are those put on display. The artistic heritage comes in large part from the churches of the Diocese of Udine. For reasons of protection and conservation of works, almost all of the sculptures are here admitted and accepted because it offers even greater assurances of safety, respect to places of worship, where they were placed. In the building you can appreciate the beauty of 18th century frescoes by Giambattista Tiepolo. The master was decorated at the behest of the then Patriarch on the ceiling of the grand staircase, the gallery and the red room. In the main floor you will also find the beautiful "grotesque" placed in the blue room and the pleasant fillers of the yellow room. The patriarchal Library contains a rich library.
