  • Piazza Statuto is named in memory of the Statuto Albertino. It's a very strange ' square ' and is different from all other squares in Turin. It has a rectangular shape and is surrounded by old buildings and its porches that lead up to the entrance of Via Garibaldi. At the Center, stands a monument to Frejus surrounded by a small garden with plants, benches and beds. In front of the monument, across the street, lies the small obelisk of Beccaria, which defines the degree of latitude to the Meridian in Turin. Around the perimeter of the square, unfortunately, is used for parking and passing the tram and this will diminish the importance and beauty. Piazza Statuto, moreover, in its subsoil, is crossed by three levels of passage: about 30 meters deep, is the metro, high-speed rail and above the third level Road underpass linking corso Inghilterra in corso Principe Oddone. Of mysteries, the ' square ' seems to have so many, we hope that now, at least, its pedestrianisation is resolved.
