Piazza Castello, Turin

(4.8/5 based on 3,000+ reviews on the web)
Piazza Castello is the urban center of one of northern Italy's most important cities and was Italy's first capital. Wander the square to admire the Royal Palace, Royal Library, and the Royal Theater, among other structures. The old castle, from which the plaza takes its name, is a fortress built atop Roman ruins. Explore the portico-lined arcades along the square's perimeter of the square. They connect to many of the area's shopping streets. • I live in Turin and then it's hard for me to review corners of my città.....si appreciate usually new places that you visit as a tourist but last night piazza Castello lit wisely and with an atmosphere almost summer was nothing short of wonderful. Palazzo Madama and Palazzo Reale gave a magical and mysterious atmosphere, unique in the collection! Turin is this: charm and mystery together.

  • The square opens to the Royal Palace. The sides palazzo madama and the small and hidden Church of san Lorenzo.

  • Piazza castello is magic, feel the air with perfume "real" ... don't forget to touch the magic point at the entrance where there are chains

  • Very nice graphic city centre square. We went there during Christmas time, and was very nicely decorated. A place to go when you visit Turin!
  • Lots of little shops, nice scenery, connected to some of the most walked streets of Turin
  • Main square in Turin. Really central in the city. If you are on Via Roma, via Garibaldi, via Po or via Pietro Micca just keep walking and you can get to Piazza Castello. There are bars for aperitifs and pizza shops. Three of the main museums in Turin are located in Piazza Castello: palazzo Reale, Armenia Reale and Palazzo Madama.
  • Simply the best square in town, just less classy than Piazza San Carlo.
  • Best open-sky market ever
