Palazzo Reale, Turin

(4.3/5 based on 2,200+ reviews on the web)
Soaked in history and filled with art, Palazzo Reale was once the hub of the city’s political power. Together with the surrounding buildings, this palace formed a regional command center for the powerful House of Savoy. Originally built in the 16th century, the opulent palace was further expanded and modified in the 17th century. Renowned architect Filippo Juvarra was hired by Victor Amadeus, the head of the Savoy dynasty, to modernize the palace up to 17th-century standards. The architect’s most famous addition was a grand staircase. Later, Claudio Francesco Beaumont, a distinguished artist who was the dynasty’s official painter, embellished many of the palace’s chambers. Today, the palace offers visitors a chance to glimpse the grandeur in which the European aristocracy once lived and worked. Be sure to visit the on-site museum, with a historic armory displaying a vast collection of old weapons. • If not a closer visit, don't forget to drink a coffee in the establishment of the facility. Colorful interior and even more attractive exhibition of tableware. To take into account also the photographs that show how was the place before being restored.

  • This Palace is part of a superior establishment buildings downtown amazes you at first sight by its grandeur, the rest is among the most important sites of the time. A central section flanked by two highest parts designed at the turn of the 500/600, you notice a fantastic balance of facades whose symmetry is broken by the impressive Chapel of the Holy Shroud. Considerable interest in the inner rooms for various artists who with friezes, frescoes and paintings have surpassed themselves in celebrating the real.

  • What more is there to write about this wonderful building of the House of Savoy of yesteryear? The symbol of Turin, huge picture gallery in the sumptuous Royal rooms, paintings, tapestries, all furnished with the taste of that time. Does not regret the magnificent palaces of other major European cities, because even our has a large park and a beautiful square and is located right in the city centre, a few steps from the Duomo, Palazzo Madama and the splendid Piazza Castello. Now around the Palace was born the now established Royal Polo which includes other important artistic and historical complexes of great level.

  • Just open a part of the gardens that have been restored. For now the entrance is for free. Very pleasant to take a walk, the garden is simple but very well maintained. There are lounge chairs to relax in.
