Soaked in history and filled with art, Palazzo Reale was once the hub of the city’s political power. Together with the surrounding buildings, this palace formed a regional command center for the powerful House of Savoy. Originally built in the 16th century, the opulent palace was further expanded and modified in the 17th century. Renowned architect Filippo Juvarra was hired by Victor Amadeus, the head of the Savoy dynasty, to modernize the palace up to 17th-century standards. The architect’s most famous addition was a grand staircase. Later, Claudio Francesco Beaumont, a distinguished artist who was the dynasty’s official painter, embellished many of the palace’s chambers. Today, the palace offers visitors a chance to glimpse the grandeur in which the European aristocracy once lived and worked. Be sure to visit the on-site museum, with a historic armory displaying a vast collection of old weapons. • Exciting and thrilling journey into the past. We enjoyed the trip driven real kitchens and those in the Queen's room. We were made aware of the nature, education, quality, custom, superstition etc royalty. We knew that they were not inclined to luxury or ostentation (as were the French and English Royal ... all smoke and mirrors, since they came from humble courtiers or peasants). The pride of the Savoy there were centuries of dynasty of noble blood. All the furniture is set using what she could take. Very beautiful and tasteful porcelain and glasses, tapestries and paintings, floors and furniture.

  • The king’s and queen’s apartments were closed. The good thing is the ticket was free. I enjoyed my time at the palace.
  • This place is full of color and life, its not far from Milan, train ride 1hr 25mins express and it has so much character and History in all its old buildings, lovely architecture and wonderful people and food obviously
  • I liked how Swiss elements in Savoie family were incorporated into this palace. Some details/decor like the armory is not often seen in other palaces/castles, but I was looking forward to a dining hall which wasn’t included here... (or I just missed it). The cafeteria was cute and worth a visit.
  • Wow! This place blew me away! I loved this palace, even more than Versailles! (Shhhh don’t tell...) It is absolutely incredible, beautiful, gilded, artistic, awe inspiring, and wonderful. I would visit again, I liked it so much. If I were to do it again, however, I think I would really enjoy having a tour guide to explain the nuances in the rooms to me. However, even wandering around on my own, I was thoroughly impressed.
  • A great sneak peek into the royal life.
