  • The atmosphere coming down the steps leading to the entrance is mystical. It was once known for the Inquisition and in later centuries was the seat of the Dominican fathers until a few years ago. The presence of the Dominicans in Turin is documented since the middle of the thirteenth century; the Church was built only between 1334 and 1335 and enlarged in 1351. Turin is the only building in the Gothic style; in Turin Baroque façade reigns-datable to the second half of the fourteenth century-is brick in regular classes. Inside, in the chapel of grace, are preserved frescoes, unique examples in Turin. On the left side shows the Maiestas Domini: Christ enthroned surrounded by the symbols of the evangelists; on the right side is painted Saint Thomas Aquinas Chapel to the Virgin presenting donors. In the middle is painted the scene of the Annunciation. In the lower register, are represented the Apostles, each identifiable by a scroll. The frescoes were restored in 1906 and integrated parts missing. On the third altar of the left aisle was placed a fresco-disconnected from the nave – depicting the Duke Amedeo IX of Savoy. The fresco, has been dated to 1472 posts, after the death of the Duke. These are identifiable by the cartouche and is depicted leaning scepter, a symbol of royalty and continuity of power. The choice for this portrait must be accessed at key policy: the untimely death of Duke and the Regency of his widow for his son Filiberto was threatened by the pretensions of his brother Amedeo Cadet, Philip of Bresse. These would in fact entitled to claim for itself the Regency of the Duchy.

  • In the capital of Piedmont reigns above all the Central Baroque but right in the quadrilatero romano is the Church of San Domenico where the street of the same name that is located close to the city's largest outdoor market is national. Erected around 1200, looks like pure Gothic exterior and interior with three aisles. It was once known for the Inquisition and in later centuries was the seat of the Dominican fathers who exercised until ten years ago. Inside there are small chapels and frescoes and a painting attributed to Guercino. The only drawback is that the Church is somewhat below the roadway via Milano busy busy.

  • The nave was torn down to make way for younger eastward enlargement of the via Milano. Church that looks a bit like the transitional style between Romanesque and Gothic, kept fairly well, is one of the few pieces of old Turin were in good condition.

  • Church of the 13th century, in the Gothic style. Rich interior.
