  • We stopped for a visit to the cathedral and our expectations were exceeded. We particularly enjoyed the windows and doors. There are good explanations of the cathedral in English.  more »

  • Peaceful and inspiring place.
  • The Cathedral of Troia was founded in 1093, on an existing building. The construction materials are the landfill, derived from the ancient Roman city. It's easy to say "cathedrals of Puglia"; one is on holiday in the Gargano, sees the uncertain weather or rough seas and goes around the Centre of Barletta-Trani-Ruvo-Castel del Monte. If he is willing, arrives in Molfetta and Bitonto. And often in Troy is wrong, because it is off the road, closer to the Campania and the sea. But a Romanesque cathedral is a secret book (for us): nothing is there by accident, is a forest of symbols, which painstakingly try to interpret. For example, the columns are not twelve, but thirteen: it is argued that this means Christ more the Apostles, but someone else thinks a reinforcement for a steeple built then somewhere else. Then there are three Exultet, whose two oldest and incomplete, while the third is complete and best preserved. In it the images are flipped relative to the text, as in the genre for other Exultet. The reason was that the scroll was read and played at Easter, letting it fall back down toward the faithful as they saw the pictures. To Troy, therefore, was not used as well, but for Exposition. On 6 December is the miraculous crucifix by Pietro Frasa.

  • The Cathedral of troia is a unique show maybe in Apulia, please visit did not disappoint. Historically important, architecturally unique, with its famous rose window, the imposing bronze portal and the fascinating Romanesque façade. The Interior to visit carefully, so you don't miss anything, the altar and the columns are kept up even today after so many years past. One of the treasures of Puglia, is certainly worth a visit!
