I went to the Christmas Charms because intrigued both by the restructuring of the former fish pond, both from the exhibition "the secret rooms" by Vittorio Sgarbi. The Salon is definitely worth seeing, a space very well recovered where there is this beautiful view, pity that the tours are more frequent on Sundays there is a single visit at 11. Maybe an audio guide with an explanation of the most significant works of the collection by the same Sgarbi, could help to better understand the beauty and peculiarities. I would give advice to the Lady at the ticket office (where alas only payment in cash): it would be better not to show off, however and whatever, all kinds of expected reduction (65s or under the 18 years) especially if the visitor who has blatantly there is, it is useless and mostly ridiculous!

I went to the exhibition "the secret rooms of Vittorio Sgarbi" (which I liked), and I found the Salon very nice, spacious, with high ceilings and very bright ... also too, actually. I wonder why not think about some system of curtains to block out a little higher: stained glass Windows in a view like that of Sgarbi, daylight makes it extremely difficult to observe paintings of a certain size in their entirety, always being hit by flares and reflections.

Wonderful atmosphere with high ceilings. Perfect for exhibitions, given the natural light from the Windows and the contrast with the colour of the sea.

  • Super!!!
  • Is the old fish market of Trieste converted (alas!) for many years in a large exhibition hall. Shame not to be exploited better. The exhibits are few and the available space is not used as it deserves. In Trieste is known as Santa Maria del Zakigay (goby in Italian) for the past popular fish market.

  • Full stop in Trieste I remember with benches full of fish and also crowded with extras while there were certain scenes of the film the Godfather (arrival in the Usa). For years trasfoemato in cultural center in order to keep alive the beautiful architectural structure

  • The historic former fishmonger, externally similar to a church, so the triestini the christened Santa Maria del Guató people, a typical fish that lives in shallow waters

  • Place where are held periodically exhibitions. The building is worth seeing (former percheria, with the fish market of the city of Trieste). Exhibitions vary, both genre and quality ...

Where to stay in Trieste

Trieste's historical town center is filled with a host of hotels boasting comfortable rooms with panoramic views of the surrounding area. Hotels in this zone also tend to be pricey and often require booking well in advance. If you are traveling on a budget and prefer not to forge your plans months in advance, consider staying at a private guesthouse or B&B. Trieste's family-run operations not only provide spacious rooms and access to private outdoor space, but also serve their guests with insider tips about the city's less-known bars, restaurants, and historical sites.
