  • Nice Museum under the San giusto Cathedral, inside you can find numerous historical artifacts that relate to the history of Trieste, and also you can visit this museum the old foundations of the Roman basilica, which lie directly beneath the present Cathedral. Serious and helpful staff.

  • I likw very much.
  • Really full of very well organized exhibits within the Museum. Precious finds and details related to prehistoric times, the bronze and iron age, Roman and Egyptian age. Instead we got shabby lapidary outside the Museum. From January 2017 do not pay the entrance fee. The keepers were very courteous and helpful instructions. To visit.

  • The Museum, with free admission, presents some interesting sections, like the one dedicated to jewellery of Roman and an extensive collection of Greek artifacts. Added value is the presence of orto lapidario with the Cenotaph of Winckelmann.

  • Covering different periods of history and civilization: prehistory, protohistory, Greek, Roman, Egyptian, Etruscan, neoclassicism, Magna Greece, Romans, Maya etc. interesting interior rooms, a pleasant garden in which there is also a monument to Winckelmann. Extraordinary events often take place there, such as "archaeology". The ticket office was moved to the entrance of via della Cattedrale, which passes almost unnoticed. It is worth looking for it (you have to go down the street in front of the Cathedral of San Giusto).

  • Small museum worth a visit, particularly with regard to the Egyptian era.

Where to stay in Trieste

Trieste's historical town center is filled with a host of hotels boasting comfortable rooms with panoramic views of the surrounding area. Hotels in this zone also tend to be pricey and often require booking well in advance. If you are traveling on a budget and prefer not to forge your plans months in advance, consider staying at a private guesthouse or B&B. Trieste's family-run operations not only provide spacious rooms and access to private outdoor space, but also serve their guests with insider tips about the city's less-known bars, restaurants, and historical sites.
