Castello di San Giusto, Trieste

Head to Castello di San Giusto, a former Roman fort, to visit the city museum's impressive collection of weapons and furnishings. Set atop a large hill, the 15th-century castle also boasts a collection of mosaic tiles, statuary, and burial stones, which are hidden in a series of deep underground cellars accessed from one corner of the site. Frederick of Habsburg initiated construction of the castle, which was finished by Venetians. Pay attention to the metal statues that welcome you at the entrance, which tell the entertaining story of Mike and Jake. • Fortress which is accessed through a lift for free. Eye, because down is on foot, although anything uncomfortable. The castle is a monumental complex which include panoramic views of the Gulf of Trieste. It also has an exhibition hall. Reduced prices. It is advisable to come to have a panoramic view of this beautiful city and its wonderful surroundings.

  • In the upper part of the city, in one fell swoop you can visit the Castle and the Cathedral: did you come up with a convenient bus line, the return can be done on foot for a characteristic inner street. You have to pay to enter, you can admire the landscape, some crumbling walls, a Museum of arms: nothing fancy.

  • The climb to the Castle goes especially for the panorama of the city, but also the rock itself is not bad: has nice walls, museums that can be visited for a fee and creates a beautiful frame to a cathedral square with some remains of the Roman age. The steps to get there.

  • I've been here visiting a Robert Capa's exhibition and the location was simply perfect.
  • For 3 € u can see a lot. Nice.
  • The castle is really something wonderful, completely intact and accessible everywhere. The walkway outside the wall offers beautiful views of the port of trieste. Even the outside of the Castle, shared with the Church, has the wonderful remains of a colonnade and a terrace overlooking the sea. The Interior rooms of the Palace feature a view of both white and various weapons to fire at the time.
