  • A curiosity. Withstand the parking chaos (you could park elsewhere and park or you could accept the craziness as part of the experience) and you can easily spend 3-4 hours here walking around the gard...  more »
  • Walking through the rooms of the Castle you feel transported back in time, everything is kept as though its occupants should return at any moment. Undoubtedly you can't visit Trieste omitting the Miramare Castle.

  • Nice place to have a walk. the sea was very beautiful. The park of the castle was very green and well maintained.
  • Awesome castle! Absolutely must see in Triest! Here's a tip: if you're using the city transport make sure to buy two single way tickets for the bus BEFORE you go to the castle- there's no way to buy a ticket on your way back and it's too far to walk.
  • This castle built by the Austrian emperor Maximilian is for sure worth a visit! You can either explore the very nice interior of the castle or you can walk in the wide park with its lovely little lakes and woods.
  • This is a very beautiful place. We really liked it. A little bit difficult to find a car park next to the entrance. After parking I was confusioned by beggars who quiped to me and wanted money. I didn't liked that.
  • As with all Princess Sisi's palaces, even this one is a very beautiful palace, lovely and rich garden, with a very interesting history too. A must visit if in Trieste, since it's within walking distance from the city. Check the photos attached for a glimpse of its beauty.

Where to stay in Trieste

Trieste's historical town center is filled with a host of hotels boasting comfortable rooms with panoramic views of the surrounding area. Hotels in this zone also tend to be pricey and often require booking well in advance. If you are traveling on a budget and prefer not to forge your plans months in advance, consider staying at a private guesthouse or B&B. Trieste's family-run operations not only provide spacious rooms and access to private outdoor space, but also serve their guests with insider tips about the city's less-known bars, restaurants, and historical sites.
