  • It's not a pretty square, because it says nothing, and is made at the base by a restaurant and a bar, and there's nothing flashy. Treviso is nice, but in context, and not to its square

  • Beautiful square, the stately, with lovely backdrop to a picturesque tourist local frame of architecture, statues and flooring from bygone days. Lovely!

  • It is the most important square in the heart of the city and its cultural, social and historical centre. Changed often name: piazza Maggiore, piazza Grande and piazza San marco, the nobles, the chains, the sedan: it was here that public punishment was administered. On the square facing various palaces; to the South, between via XX Settembre and via Indipendenza, is the seat of the library and the municipal art gallery. To the West you can admire the Baroque façade of the Palazzo pretorio. To the East lies the Palazzo dei Trecento, ancient seat of the Senior Council, destroyed by bombing, but now restored. On the north side, there are the Palazzo del Podestà and the civic Tower, of 1200, although repeatedly restored. Not far from the Palazzo del Podestà and via Calmaggiore, once, there was a fountain of breasts (other than the definition in dialect). Flowed wine on the occasion of the nomination of a new mayor. Now the fountain has been placed, no longer functional, in the loggia of the Palazzo dei Trecento. By spinning the look you can see the many Lions of St. mark, symbol of the Venetian rule. Today the square is the place of walks and meetings, where chat and some gossip over a coffee or a drink in one of the many bars or cafés.
