Trapani - Erice, Trapani

4.5
#1 of 48 in Sightseeing in Province of Trapani
Landmark Tourist Spot
Trapani - Erice connects Trapani to the medieval mountaintop town of Erice along a 3,099 m (10,167 ft) long cable. Cables cars with eight seats run along a single looping cable. There are special cars for people with disabilities and for bicycles. Erice perches on a rocky mountain often wreathed in clouds. The difficulty in accessing Erice has rendered it something of a time capsule, with its medieval castle and stony churches. Narrow cobblestone streets host quaint shops and small restaurants, which serve cannoli and other Italian delicacies. Soak in views of Sicily and the sea at every turn. You also can reach Erice via a winding road. Put Trapani - Erice into our Trapani family vacation planner to see other points of interest to visit during your vacation in Trapani.

  • Erice is absolutely worth a visit. You enter the city through the Porta Trapani.
  • Whole route to this place is amazing ;) Unfortunately we were unable to see castle
  • 1 star for the only ATM machine (Bankomat). It has loan shark fees. Bring cash to Erice this service is highway robbery.
  • The gateway to the main thoroughfare. Plenty of paying nearby.
  • The Medieval gate to enter Erice.
