Scavi di Oplontis, Torre Annunziata
(4.7/5 based on 360+ reviews on the web)
Explore a villa frozen in time by the eruption of Mount Vesuvius when you visit Scavi di Oplontis. See preserved murals and paintings on the walls, as well as intricate tiles and mosaics on the floor. Tour the gardens, see ruins and artifacts, and view the remains of people caught in the eruption and petrified in ash. Though much smaller than Pompeii or Herculaneum, this site will give you a good idea of how the upper class of Roman society lived, as well as a more intimate view of the architecture and style of their homes. Put Scavi di Oplontis and other Torre Annunziata attractions into our Torre Annunziata trip generator, and watch your holiday take shape.

  • Villa very nicely maintained rooms wall columns much more beautiful than in Pompeii. Fewer people peace peace ... is road access and parking so the small amount of time a little bit pity it on something that has seen a similar in Pompeii the only marginally less ruined. Visit the max 30 min in a quiet pace. Best to buy a ticket in Pompeii in the package currently is cutting 5 attractions for 22euro for 3 days. Gets a description of book here for free so a nice addition:)

  • A hidden gem, I had heard of Herculaneum, I have visited Pompeii but had never heard of this amazing Roman Villa. Five euro for entry and best value visit I made on my holiday. A must see excavation i...  more »
  • Get with the circumvesuviana is very simple, along a street a little homely after which it runs along the wall vanvitelliano of detonation fuses. In this descent is a well stocked bookshop and souvenirs and I highly recommend joining is to speak with the proprietor, kind and art lover, is to buy a guide to the excavations. In this site you will find bookshop and explanatory signs, so it's best to arrive already equipped. The excavations we were assisted by one of the caretakers who pointed out so many interesting details and told us many stories about so-called villa di Poppea. Mon there is crowding and so the place is very quiet and enjoyable, I mean a peaceful oasis in the middle of a town very shabby and noisy.
