  • Not to be missed under any circumstances. Mosaics as beautiful as was Ravenna. Varopetto 12 for burrano then 9 passing 1 x per hour

  • Before the examination we documented on representations of the life and death of Jesus and, in particular, the Judgment in churches, being quite different those we find in almost all Italian churches from those Greek Orthodox and Byzantine-ravennate backgrounds anyway. In this beautiful Basilica we got confirmation: mosaic gold background represent even the descent into hell of Jesus, the empty throne pending its 2 ^ coming, etc. things not seen before .... very, very interesting! I also recommend the audioguide, short but Basic.

  • The island is just a few minutes from Burano and connected with a small Steamboat every 15 minutes. It is virtually uninhabited. You will enjoy the stroll to the basilica and in view of its ruins, a nice set without modern buildings nearby that they spoil it. Would recommend making the visit in moments that has little people. As for the interior of the Basilica (entrance€ 5) Note that photos cannot be but it has some spectacular mosaics of Byzantine style. Santa Fosca could not visit it because they were cleaning it?. Aside from this say that staff is not precisely known for their sympathy.
