  • Atmosphere will leave you breathless! The company I work for decided to organise the Christmas dinner at this castle and arriving on foot from the downhill road leading to the castle we began to hear the trumpets sang a medieval melody and then it is open in front of the view: the illuminated castle with torches, the red carpet on the stone bridge leading to the entrance of the Castle. Christmas, a starry evening and cold and this scenario: it felt like being in a fairy tale. Inside were served appetizers in the upper saloon (the stairway to access it is rough ... but fortunately there is a cordon as handrails). Canapés with salmon, chive cream cheese and cherry tomatoes, finger food, biecchierino of cream of pumpkin: all delicious as well as the wine. For dinner we moved to ground floor: round tables elegantly decorated and arranged in various rooms, though all connected. As an appetizer there were meatballs with ricotta strudel crust with a bed of diced pumpkin: delicate, but with character at the same time. Great batter. The first was a Zucchini risotto with shrimp-crusted polenta. Rice good and he approached very well the crispy shrimp and Zucchini with the softness of the risotto. Second: Bacon (tender, it melted in your mouth) with celeriac puree, green beans and carrots. For dessert we moved back upstairs where there was ample buffet. The portion of amari and coffee was in an adjacent room quite impressive: the walls and vaulted ceiling were all blackened. The room was used in the past to kitchens where they smoked and left to rest the speck (here's the dark color of ceiling and walls). The evening is sure to remember!

  • Is considered the largest and one of the oldest vines in the world. You can admire the ancient castle of Castel Katzenzungen Prissiano Tesimo fraction, location, halfway between Bolzano and Merano. This screw is protected as a natural monument and cultural heritage. Recent research has established that the vine has more than 350 years. It grows lush-as mentioned-600 meters above sea level, at Castel Katzenzungen sheltered by an old wall, on a ground plate with their and its branches stretch for over 350 square meters. The Vineyard produces small bunches with large and medium-sized transparent beans from which you get a great white wine, Elisabeth Keller, fruity with hints of green, from the delicate structure and with a pronounced acidity. The wine is produced from the basement of the experimental centre Laimburg, the most important agrarian Research Institute in South Tyrol. The production is of a few hundred bottles per year that you can buy numbered and accompanied by a certificate of identity directly in the Castle at a cost of 20 euros. There are various speculations about the origins of the name "Elisabeth Keller», the old vine that comes from the Vinschgau Valley. The most accredited version points to the location of the vineyards, usually located in places difficult to cultivate, which forced farmers to transport the grapes harvested in baskets retained by ropes. The dialect word "Elisabeth Keller", in fact, derives from the German verseilen "(tie). Visitors can also access the old vineyard, in addition to the exhibition of ancient seeds of South Tyrol, dating back 2,400 years ago, while in Tabernaculum you can admire the Golden copy of an amazing grape seed oil by 7 thousand years. The grape seed oil, from Georgia, land of ancient and illustrious tradition of winemaking, was donated by the National Museum in Tbilisi. (GIUSEPPE CASAGRANDE)

  • Dream location. Castle in the countryside and in the vineyards of Prissiano. Very nice and intimate outdoor garden with impeccable service. Buffet very rich and refined. The Castle kept local to the limit of perfection. The most beautiful room is the antiuco affumicatorio ... seems to enter a time portal. Quality food really top notch.
