  • In contrast to other more famous sites, Carsulae is unfortunately not as well known perhaps because less sponsored. Contains unique architectural beauties. I highly recommend it to everyone.

  • unspeakable squalor of what should be the reception area. Two examples photographed: the bathrooms in abandonment and what should be the transportation for the disabled a rusty weathered and become useless. But at least no could make us a shed with a lot of money wasted?

  • If you like bimbling around ruins this is perfect. We had the place to ourselves at one point and it was great for the children to scramble around the walls. The tomb that my son thought looked like a...  more »

  • The visitor center looks new and has a limited number of finds from the site. It has a small operating room and Bookstore. The ancient road, the Via Flaminia, is clearly visible (here and there you can see worn pieces by cart tracks). The ancient city was founded in the 3rd century b.c. originally it was a garrison town but under Emperor Augustus it developed as a fully fledged city. Halfway through the site runs the Via Flaminia through the historic city center. On one side you see contours of the forum, remains of a few buildings and tabernae (= Roman drinking and dining options, let's say the Roman tapas bars). On the other side is the Basilica (where the administration of Justice took place mainly). It is also what overgrown Amphitheater visible with behind it the Theater that is still used today for music and theatre. As usual, the acoustics. What away there's the Middle Arch of the triple, Northern gateway. Outside the city were 2 large tombs coarse restored. There is still a small stone sarcophagus in which a lead coffin was found by a young girl with golden earrings and necklace. Currently there are excavations in the craft area of the city (work areas for pottery and bronze objects).

  • I brought friends Tan to visit the archaeological site and I was ashamed that in spite of the importance of Carsulae was in the midst of the tall weeds to the knee. Aside from a few step where you could see that the grass had been cut the rest was buried ... It is unacceptable that the crisis there is keep in this State a source of culture and gain for the city.
