Corso Umberto, Taormina
(4.3/5 based on 2,000+ reviews on the web)
Take a leisurely walk through the city’s famous traffic-free Corso Umberto, a relatively short but very picturesque street lined by numerous small shops, cafes, bars, and art galleries. The busy street is almost always packed with a vibrant crowd either shopping or looking for a place to eat. Most restaurants and shops located in this pedestrian district are geared entirely to the masses of tourists who flock to this part of the country during the peak of the season. Give yourself plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere and mingle with the idling locals hanging out at the many sidewalk cafes. Though many of the shops here sell the usual souvenirs found in most tourist-driven cities, you can also find one-of-a-kind items, including ceramics and paintings created by local artists. Add Corso Umberto and other attractions to your Taormina trip itinerary using our Taormina family vacation planner.

  • In the pre-Christmas period is something exceptional! The decorations of every window, every side street and every square or square are something that will remain in your heart and soul. Colors and flavors that hover in the air are a fair outline of a work of art in the open air.

  • Beautiful pedestrian street with upscale shops and restaurants and art galleries. Beautiful piazza with great views of Mount Etna and the sea.

  • Nothing special at all, except for a few restored early buildings, although the average shop is certainly upmarket of others in Sicily.
