Where to stay in Taormina

Perched on the side of a mountain, Taormina offers lodging options that range from family-run guesthouses and traditional B&Bs, to luxury hotels and private seaside villas. Staying close to the city center allows you to enjoy a broad selection of excellent restaurants and cafes, where you can experience the flavors of Sicily's local cuisine. To avoid the overcrowding of Taormina's central areas, which are packed with tourists all year long, venture deeper inland and consider staying at a quiet cottage or cozy private inn.

  • What a breathtaking location. If you go in the afternoon, you have the most fabulous views of Taormina, and it's ampitheatre. There is a beautiful chapel which looks like it's carved out of rock at th...  more »
  • True, the climb up Monte Tauro is strenuous and a little precarious in places as a few railings are missing but the rewards are worth it; spectacular views, a sweet, quiet church and yes, a small hut ...  more »
  • The walk up to the church is the real pleasure. The church itself is not specially remarkable, but a good place to sit down and get your breath back. Ideally we would have liked to continue up to the ...  more »

  • A very modest little church dug out from the actual rock on which Taormina is also built. It stems back to the 17th century. Next to the church there is a hermitage and a monastery of the order of the Basilian. The views are stupendous on one side Taormina with the amphitheatre while the other side majestic Etna, Castelmola and Naxos
  • Duck your head in for a unique small church. Right at the top of the path up from Taormina, this small church looks unremarkable from the outside. Step inside for a moment and you see how the builders wonderfully incorporated the stone into the roof. Worth the 5 minutes to see.
  • Amazing views from up top ! Would recommend going when it isn't 32 degrees, worth the sweaty hike though :)
  • Amazing place with nice view!
