(9,000+ reviews on the web)
Island
Ortigia is the historic city center of Syracuse on the island of Sicily. Connected to the main island by a series of three bridges, this small island features the majority of Syracuse's cultural and artistic heritage, spanning more than 2,500 years of history. Meander through the narrow alleyways admiring the mix of medieval architecture and Roman ruins. You'll see the ancient Temple of Apollo and the city's main cathedral, which was built using remains from the Temple of Athena. Try to stop by island's outdoor market, where you can buy local goods and handmade products. Work out when and for how long to visit Ortigia and other Syracuse attractions using our handy Syracuse trip generator.
