Ortigia, Syracuse

(4.8/5 based on 8,000+ reviews on the web)
Ortigia is the historic city center of Syracuse on the island of Sicily. Connected to the main island by a series of three bridges, this small island features the majority of Syracuse's cultural and artistic heritage, spanning more than 2,500 years of history. Meander through the narrow alleyways admiring the mix of medieval architecture and Roman ruins. You'll see the ancient Temple of Apollo and the city's main cathedral, which was built using remains from the Temple of Athena. Try to stop by island's outdoor market, where you can buy local goods and handmade products. • Maybe will the low season and for this too neglected, rusted railings along the seafront, dirt everywhere. I'm sorry because the place as nature created is beautiful

  • A small crib of the sea; charming alleys, streets kept very well. Great restaurants, beautiful monumental and artistic attractions to visit surely. A little gem of our beautiful eastern Sicily.

  • Ortigia is the expression of Sicily better, beautiful, rich in art, archaeology, mythology, history and much taste. The circumnavigation of the island is offered at affordable prices for small/medium boats and well worth it! Even just walking or eating or enjoy an evening of fun is a pleasure. At the entrance to the ZTL, strictly followed there is ample public parking spaces, with fair prices. even the market before logging on to the historic area is rich, colorful and very convenient. Easily reached by train or by bus, if you want to walk a bit, but not too much!
