  • Seen from the outside as it unfortunately closed (maybe open only by appointment or on special occasions). However it is easy to imagine the importance it must have got in some periods of history and what its extension. In fact very large walls with gardens and olive grove below well cared for. Beautiful its dominant position on the Hill, from which the view extends over vineyards, multicolored at this time.

  • The castle of San Salvatore was built by the family of Count Collalto in the second half of the 1200. With its majestic ramparts the Castle stands on the hills of the Alps, location a strategic time to control the Fords on the Piave, and dominates the village of Susegana and all the Veneto plain up to the lagoon. Over the centuries, the castle of San Salvatore is transformed, from medieval to Renaissance stately home defensive fortress. During the rule of the Republic of Venice, three centuries known as Pax Veneta, Collalto Castle House Painters, poets, musicians and writers, that enrich the abode with their works. San Salvatore becomes a place of culture and a centre of power at European level. In 1700 the conte Odoardo, aspiring to the Office of doge, built in the Castle a splendid palace in Venetian style. Today the Castle San Salvatore renovated after the heavy bombing of World War I, has all the charm of past centuries and its historic gardens is a beautiful setting for guided tours, receptions and cultural events.
