  • Amazingly preserved Roman arch surrounded by the Italian Alps. Great place to walk through with a picnic!  more »
  • I came back after 4 months in the city of Susa to visit friends and with them I could see the stupendous Arch dedicated to Octavian Augustus, not having admired before. Built in the first century BC, is still well preserved, despite being placed on a slight Hill than the central squares of the city; interesting is the frieze that depicts the scene of sacrifice which marked the Pact with the Celtic King. Not far from the arc you can reach the other famous Roman witness that is the Arena, discreetly guarded which deserves more visibility. Ever the arc you can also admire the Summit of big mount Rocciamelone 3538 mt.

  • It was built in 9-8 BC to seal the Covenant made with Roma and is dedicated to Augustus by Marcus Julius Cottius, son of King David and prefect of the 14 populations that constituted the Kingdom of Cozii, on both sides of the Alps. It is one of the oldest Roman arches and of the best preserved in Upper Italy, and most beautiful monument of Roman Valsusa.
