  • I loved getting lost among the ancient alleys of this wonderful city. "The Madonna running instead gave me some strong emotions. Not to be missed along with delicious sugared almonds.

  • Visit the old town from the Villa Comunale, where you can visit the Cathedral of St. Pandilo, the patron saint of the city, walking around the course, stopping in front of the façade of the Annunziata, of two different ages; going back up to piazza XX settembre where stands the statue of the poet Ovid, born in Sulmona in 43 b.c. died at Tomi (Constanţa) in 17 a.d., in exile. Continue to follow the Corso Ovidio as far as the fountain of the old man who collects the waters of the Swabian aqueduct over whose columns you can see the beautiful piazza Garibaldi or piazza maggiore which hosts two of the largest demonstrations in the city: "The Madonna running" on Easter Sunday and Joust on the last weekend of July. Pass piazza Garibaldi and walk about 100 meters on the right is Piazza Plebiscito with the beautiful church of Santa Maria della Tomba. Wanting to deepen the visit you can see the remains of the Roman walls and medieval walls along the ring roads.
