  • It is possible to be taken around the monastery by an English speaking monk. There were parties of Italians who had an Italian guide.  more »
  • We were in yesterday's visit to the Rocca of Subiaco. Although the area had never had the opportunity to visit her since she found a bureaucratic adjustment relatively recently. It's true, the fortress was abandoned and stolen a long time, in total neglect of secular and religious institutions, but we should avoid going to visit it just because it's in disrepair? You are trying to recover it and it is commendable and only if you increase the views, you can open a whole series of roads for a real and serious recovery! The fortress is beautiful, frescoed well and the story is steeped in is great, spacious, charming. The setting is beautiful, the competent guides, funny and engaging. Dont miss it! Advice for new parents: take a headband or waist, the stroller is not given!

  • Pay 5 euros each (3 euros for the reduced fare) for a beautiful from the outside but inside it is practically destroyed (I speak not only of the marks left by the earthquakes, but also lack of restoration and preservation of the frescoes) and be accompanied by a guide just engaging did not favor our appreciation for a place that surely would have much to give tourists ... shame ... visit short and disappointing in many respects. redeeming factor: the landscapes and the hike you need to do to get up to the fortress. PS. recommend the pedestrian path from the Church of Sant ' andrea on via cavour to the fortress following the path indicated by signs ... you will pass through the whole country and not be disappointed. Be warned though that is a nice uphill!

  • The building dates back more or less to the year 1070 by the Abbot St. caustrale school, John V, high priest feudal Lord, who wanted to erect a veritable fortress with Tower, Church, Palace and walls. The original appearance of the fortress was that up to remakes dictated by Pope Pius VI Braschi (1775-1799) who commissioned the architect Pietro Camporese to turn the complex into a modern Palace:-monumental entrance with driveway up to the Palace front-entrance of the carriages-horse-stable reduction of the Tower prison transfer borgiani-the battlements-takeout in the Government Palace-marble clock Setup-Fresco decoration of the interiors done by Coccetti

  • Merits a visit. Beautiful frescos and the history, culture and religion there are cut with a knife. Very good, deep human and the Friar Father prepared Fabrizio, who made as a guide. Thank you!

  • No ticket but free offer. The guided tour is very interesting as the rest of the story that belongs to us. I expected to pay a ticket in order to cope with the renovation work.
