  • The Abbey is easily reached in less than an hour from Rome and around the cave where Saint Benedict lived for his first three years of the spiritual life. The complex is perched on the mountainside and environments inside follow the natural trend of the rock on which stands, in fact there are stairs and rooms that branch off the one about other entirely covered with frescoes. One in particular, that located in the room above the cave of Saint Benedict, depicts the image of Saint Francis of Assisi but the fascinating thing is that the painting was executed when the Saint was still alive then the character should be the actual version of Francis as a period was also there and probably the artist who depicted followed his real features. It is unique of its kind in the world ... small curiosity is that is not represented with halos ... because he was alive at that time. It was exciting ... a little like watching it directly faces the complex is easily accessible in a wheelchair but the entrance to the halls not every permit. A lovely place surrounded by a dense forest which should be more publicized and visited by all

  • The Abbey is a massive structure, which stands for the traveler who reaches that point. Yet it is a place where, after the fascination of history that has passed, it is easy to find peace. Not to be missed.

  • Quiet and sacred place. Must go place ,
  • Peaceful
  • Together with the monastery of Santa Scolastica, close, form a perfect combination. Not to be missed. Recommend to visit one in the morning, one in the afternoon. Are both worth a visit. The story unites them, since the two Saints, Saint Benedict and Scholastica, both from Norcia, were brother and sister.

  • Contrary to popular belief, has never been a female monastery. And it was so important that the first Italian printing house opened right here. Certainly less flashy of "brother" St. Benedict, the monastery is an architectural composition at least as interesting, and beautiful frescoes. Accessed by guided tour (times are not very accurate, it seems that the tour starts when there is someone to visit the monastery), and the boy we found, though very young, was well prepared and made us appreciate the three cloisters of the monastery, the marvellous frescoes, the Bell Tower, the Church (unfortunately rebuilt in 1770 by Quarenghi, which in Italy has only done this). A place that deserves to be rediscovered.
