  • We came to Stromboli specially to make the ascent. And well we were not disappointed! The show is great! With good shoes to market (high), good (Socks), water, a little coat and full of courage, the show is to go up! The climb is rather physical. The descent on the other hand is as in a sand dune, but it lasts 1 h 30, can be tiring (sticks can help you mount it as to the descent).

  • Led by a guide we have with a number of families in the evening the volcano climbed. This can only under the supervision of a guide. You can rent shoes and flashlight at various organizers in the village. Good shoes and a good physical condition are a must. The way there, around 6 pm, went through a rock path and later a track up to approx. 400 meters altitude. There is the point of no return and you must decide whether continuing. The first piece was very hot but otherwise good. After the stopover starts the tricky part. There is no vegetation more and is a narrow rock path that reasonable style goes up. At about 900 metres is the edge of the crater. You do ca 2.5 hours on the climb. Here you have views of the active sources. You keep about 1 hour above. You still climbs all the way to the top. Here you have good views of all 4 active sources. Impressive sight if you sit here on the edge of an active volcano. Next, start the retreat through a different route. This route goes through loose sand and nar style down. You also get a mouth mask for the dust. Your shoes come completely full to sit with stones and sand. After half an hour you can empty your shoes down beat. Then a "slingerpad" back to the village. The descent takes about 1.5 hours. Our experience: take at least 2 litres of water in warm period per person. Take something to snacking with it, for the carbs. Long socks are highly recommended. Also in summer is a windbreaker or vest not a luxury. Above is the windy and relatively cold. Take a good camera to record the eruptions. The trip is not suitable for small children and people with a lesser condition. It is quite a climb and nearly 5 hours walking and standing.

  • An incredible visit is to see an active volcano on an island that seems taken from a novel of adventure, something Julio Verne chose her to end of journey to the center of the Earth. It should go up in the afternoon and enjoy the vista, the eruption, del mar,... a beauty.
