This is a nice trail, shady and cool in the vast majority of the route, departing from Stresa to reach. We parked the car along the Via Manzoni, we were back for a short while and we are on the old road to flounder, a nice shaded pavement. Then the trail goes up to the Church, and after a short paved walks among chestnut trees. The first part of the trail is not particularly pendant, then go up to the cemetery of Magognino, where we turned left along the wall until the path is not back in the Woods. Along the way there are signs for the Church of San Paolo, which is only a minute from the path and it's worth it because it's in a beautiful Glade. Back on the road continue until it becomes paved near Belgirate and drops steeply towards the country. Wish we could go back to Stresa by boat, but the last one we couldn't catch the last so we folded on the train. The signage is not extensive but it wasn't hard to follow: If there are signs of chestnut road must be followed those, in their absence, those of route Stresa-Stresa, which are more frequent. At times, unfortunately the trail was engulfed in vegetation or trees to obstruct the path. However the pleasant path in the shade, with its small rivers and fossils of terraces, deserves to be covered. Overall, with a toddler in your backpack and the necessary stops, we route at 3:30.

Not sure if we went off track or not but it took nearly 3 hours. Felt like an amazon adventure. Recommend you take plenty of water and mosquito repellent. Took cheap bus ride back to Stresa  more »

We went from Stresa to Belgirate. If I were to go again I would choose to first take the train to Belgirate and go towards Stresa. Especially in Belgirate turned out to be a real burrow. We had about 1.5 hours to while away while we waited on the train, and we found in nowhere to eat in Belgirate. All restaurants (by approx. 5 possible) were closed, except for one where the waiter was so rude that we left the place. The route is fine, but the label is not the top all the way. Thanks to Google Maps and a travel story on the Web that a lady had written, we were able to figure out how we should go. There were several small streams to cross, and over a a large tree had fallen, so we had to more or less climb over. There are no giant heavy hiking, but you should still be in decent shape with good balance so as not to risk getting hurt. "it took us a little over 1.5 hours to go.
