La Solara, Sorrento

4.5
#3 of 8 in Beaches in Sorrento
Beach · Hidden Gem · Nature / Park
With a backdrop of rocky cliffs and a wealth of opportunities for aquatic activities, it's no surprise that La Solara stands as one of the area's most popular beaches. The extensive stretch of soft sand makes for plenty of room to kick back and enjoy the sun. Alternatively, bring your swimsuit and hit the ocean, as the surrounding coves and rocky outcroppings are ideal for snorkeling and paddling alike. Try hiking around the nearby shoreline, and you may even discover some of the region's famous--yet understated--Roman ruins. Nearby food and drink options let you refuel after your time on the shore. PutLa Solara into our Sorrento road trip planning site and find out what's close by, where to stay, and where to head next.

  • You will find this to be a long steep and challenging gong walk so wear appropriate clothing and bring water. Was it worth it? Probably not.  more »
  • Rented a car from Europcar at Corso. Went over the mountains to the Amalfi side. Fantastic tour to Positano and Amalfi.  more »
  • The walk here and back was a mixture of decent path and rough underfoot but the 2 hours provided brilliant vistas with Capri in view all the time. If you decide to take the path to Punta from the top....  more »

  • Amazing view - I recommend going at sunset for a beautiful light and a picturesque scene. However, the music is very commercial and the service is extremely slow. The cocktails aren't particularly impressive and one of our drinks didn't even come. Overall, the place is only worth the view as the restaurant is below average, but the restaurant is incredibly well placed.
  • A wonderful adventure walking over to this spot. Make sure to pop in for a swim in the watering hole on the way, a little easier to swim in than the ocean which can sometimes be a little rough. Beautiful fresh food & a view unlike anything else!
  • This place is magical. The only way to get to it is to hike through the Bagni Regina Giovanni, a ruined Roman villa up the coast from Sorrento. After exploring the villa, there are signs leading down to a suspended walkway that leads around a cliff, and as you round the corner, suddenly there's a beautiful open air cafe and beach deck. When I found it, they were playing jazz, and the effect was really special. The food is pretty good, so is the coffee - but the location is so unique, and so beautiful, it's a must-visit on any trip to the area.
  • Absolutely awesome, Nick the bar guy is really cool too. I would keep this place to myself because it is that good but I have to share. Your trip to Sorrento is not complete if you didn't go here.
  • Just awesome! Perfect for swimming, eating and drinking.
