  • A visit to the fortress was absolutely interesting; We visited with a guide very prepared and above all passionate about the history of the Fort itself. If you find yourselves in Sorano, you can't miss his visit

  • We were lucky to get a private tour of this fort. That was because no one else had signed up for the tour. Exploring the tunnels was really fun.
  • Located in the upper part of the city, the Orsini fortress was built in the 13th century by the Aldobrandeschi family and subsequently enlarged and restored by the Orsini. Impressive in the mole is wonderfully well maintained and lived. The entrance was protected by a drawbridge, which has now disappeared, and by a deep moat that marked the two entrances to the village. The various buildings are interconnected by a series of underground walkways. The paths are dug on several levels and are provided with louvers "vents" suitable for defense. The fortress houses the Museum of the middle ages and the Renaissance can be visited in the following days and times: March 29-6 October all day 10-13, 15-19 7 October-3 November all day 10-13, 15-18 from November to March every weekend Saturday and d unday 10-13 14-17 hours closed Mondays. The entrance fee is 4 euros. With a combined ticket from 8 euro you can also visit the Archaeological Park "city of tufo" and the Polo Museale di Sovana with the Museum of San Mamiliano. Visit the fortress is like stepping back in time.

  • Impressive and scenic construction consists of two buildings: the original 12th-century castle built by the Aldobrandeschi to dominate the village of Sorano and the Renaissance fortress desired by the Orsini family to strengthen the South-East side of the Castle and composed in turn by a squared Central keep and two bastions on either side. Masterpiece of military architecture, long untouched, the fortress is commendable especially in underground walkways linking the two bastions; essential to a guided tour. The Castle houses a hotel and a museum.

  • Rather little busy small Tuff stone town in a Valley surrounded by unknown by Etrruskischen Garcia caves. The city is easily accessible from the Castle. In the Castle Park square, parking is well free, then you go through the imposing gate. The castle itself is a hotel, but the outdoor areas can be besiuchtigt and you can reach the town proper via a path. Nice nice streets, small gardens, typical houses and a fortress bear witness to history. It is worth a training flight in any case and is definitely not crowded. Good to connect with the archaeological site of derr Etruscan tomb caves of Savona and anschliepßendem "beauty bath" at the sulfurous Saturniaquellen.
