  • This museum is only one room, but it is packed. Very informative and interesting. The host is very friendly, generous, and passionate. Worth a stop.  more »
  • It seems that the inhabitants of Soncino are all part of the life of the village (I dare not call the country a place so quaint!). The Lord who organized the China Silk Museum, housed in the renovated textile mill, it does so by providing his personal collection, very rich, both in equipment than in pictures and many exhibits about the history of the silkworm. Silkworm breeding was an activity which was used to supplement the income of families, who ran into the House, and who went to work in the Silk Mills unfortunately was subjected to heavy work shifts with very low pay. But all this and more can be found here, and let us explain by Mr. Chandler as they were working. Really appreciate this initiative, congratulations!

  • Sunday, April 9, trip out of town and meeting with family, we took the opportunity to visit the Silk Museum. In a beautiful location: the old Filanda Meroni, you will find a small gem of a Museum, the result of a passionate about his "creator" ENZO CHANDLER. For those of us who had already seen in the past, we advise you to come back, the Museum was expanded and you can see the whole collection of qs ancient activity. With two audio visual projections taken from the archives of the time, even those who like us we could hardly grasp the full cycle of processing and breeding of silkworms, are able to understand the complex process of qs rural tradition. Luckily there are still such as ENZO enthusiasts that help us remember qs ancient traditions. George and Lydia

  • The Museum is opposite the rocca sforzesca in the complex that was once the old spinning mill of Soncino, namely where they were taken the silkworm cocoons, the skeins yarn and yarn produced which were then used for various purposes until before the war. The Museum is small but interesting because it collects all the tools used for this purpose, which offers a comprehensive overview of this task. There are also various cocoons and original prints and other materials. I come from a pole of silk industry and I don't need to explain but if you aren't aware, ask about a small guided tour (there are a couple of rooms!) and you will enjoy this little gem industry. You can also watch the video of the istituto Luce which while not covering Soncino is very attractive.

  • very interesting small museum managed by the curator a very competent person kind and that makes you discover a world long forgotten — the one on the production of the silkworm. Recommend a visit.

  • The Museum is open only in the 2° and 3° Sunday of the month (except special openings. It is a private museum, is not included in the ticket for the fortress and the other museums.
