Henry Dunant was the impetus for the founding of the Red Cross here in the battle of Solferino to 1859 and has positively changed all of our lives. Also visit the exhibition at the Tower ("spy of Italy") at Rocca/mount is recommended. This is very cheap (€2.50) and in a video that can be played in the German language are Dunant's impressions about the battle explained (taken from his book "Memories of Solferino"). It must have been simply ghastly slaughtered than 18,000 men and there were without any help on the fields for the Solferino in the heat!show original

What I didn't know, that the idea that did well then the birth of the Red Cross, Henry Dunant, was coming to this place, after a bloody battle in 1859. Evidently, there is always something to learn.
