  • The monument of the Red Cross is here just below the Rocca the Solferino. Henry Dunant was the impetus for the founding of the Red Cross here in the battle of Solferino to 1859 and has positively changed all of our lives. Also visit the exhibition at the Tower ("spy of Italy") at Rocca/mount is recommended. This is very cheap (€2.50) and in a video that can be played in the German language are Dunant's impressions about the battle explained (taken from his book "Memories of Solferino"). It must have been simply ghastly slaughtered than 18,000 men and there were without any help on the fields for the Solferino in the heat!

  • Going to visit the fortress of Solferino, I became aware of the existence of the Memorial of the Red Cross. What I didn't know, that the idea that did well then the birth of the Red Cross, Henry Dunant, was coming to this place, after a bloody battle in 1859. Evidently, there is always something to learn. You can also see the monument representing every country in the world that recognize the world red cross organization.
