Castello scaligero, Sirmione
Categories: Castles, Tourist Spots
Bordered on three sides by Lake Garda, Castello scaligero originally served as a port defense for Verona's medieval lords. Visit the 13th-century castle that stands guard over the town of Sirmione and its peninsula to see rooms filled with artifacts. Admire the crenellated walls and impressive stone towers, as well as the moat and a drawbridge. You can climb to the top for views of the town, lake, and countryside. For a different perspective, take a boat tour on the lake; many include the castle on their itineraries. Add Castello scaligero and other attractions to your Sirmione trip itinerary using our Sirmione holiday planner.

The work on the fortress started at 1277. In the XIV Century the second courtyard was added. Today much of the frame is in amazing condtion. The ptoblem is that it is almost the onlt thing there. I think they should have inserted other things grom the period for the visit to be more interesting. They charge 5 Euro prr person.
Amazing! Quant town and lovely castle. If you can, plan to take a boat ride around the castle for the best view and an unforgettable experience!
Small interesting castle from XIII century. Great view from its towers.
Sirmione is a lovely place, lots of ruins and a lovely castle. Good for a morning of history, little streets with quaint shops and ice cream!!
