  • How could they dig an underground aqueduct with the right slopes and the right direction without a compass or other instruments? And until a century ago in Siena they drank only that water! A visit that is also a fascinating way to delve into our roots away from the overcrowding of mass tourism.

  • Interesting museum that explains how Siena could supply water despite the absence of a river, I suggest a visit

  • We looked for it because it's not advertised. A treat to understand how Siena was built without a river. Museum suitable for everyone: young and old. The guide is very helpful and has told us a lot of other things besides those seen and heard.

  • It's very nice museum with lots of interesting info. It's not well equipped for English unfortunately. Luca the guide was very friendly and tried to explain everything. I think that the experience is better if you understand Italian. But still very interesting, I hope that they quickly make an English translation! The location, building and original water system are in great shape and it gives a good idea how things were in the medieval era. Don't forget to wear long trousers or bring repellent!
  • This museum showcases the innovation and technical expertise of the Senese in fortifying their population with water. The only city without a river, the Senese expanded the underground aqueducts of the Etruscans in a brilliant system called the bottini. Although museum signage is in both Italian and English, this is really best understood by Italian speakers. However, you get a taste of the bottini, can enjoy the amazing digital models and see how this particular fountain in Siena served many functions. A must-see.
  • Remember to call and reserve before going to the location, so a tour guide goes and takes you around the area. If you do not, you do not have any way to access the museum. It is a very interesting archaeological and historical museum. I highly recommend if you are in the city of Siena. Especially if you are a history/archaeology enthusiast!
  • Gives you the whole story of Siena. A thing to do! Nice people with a nice interactive museum
