Where to stay in Siena

To enjoy panoramic views of Siena's historical old town, check into a luxury hotel in the city center. If you are looking to escape the activity of the main tourist areas, consider staying at a hostel or guesthouse just outside the central areas. Private multi-room villas in the residential neighborhoods offer landscaped outdoor space and secure parking. For something a little different and considerably less expensive, explore one of many B&Bs in the vineyards and olive groves of Siena's countryside.

  • There are lots of restaurants on Piazza del Campo but unfortunately it's such a captive audience of tourists some of the restaurants take their position for granted. We spent two days in Siena and ate...  more »
  • Few seem to notice this beautiful work in marble in the light of the tower in the piazza. It is quiet in its elegance.  more »
  • This fountain is an oasis in the sea of red that makes up the piazza. One can only imagine that the local feathered friends enjoy it when the tourists aren't about! The sculptures are stunning - watch...  more »

  • This fountain just doesn't fit in it's surroundings. Even without taking this into account, it looks like a cheep replica of poorly designed fountain.
  • Palio is the valuable highlight on Siena, we had a lucky day!
  • The fountain is not matching with the square, it is odd...
  • Amazing place; we captured lovely pics; and spent good day with dearest friends on OCT. 2013
  • The fountain is a part of the Piazza Del Campo, water is very clear, the status reliefs are beautiful, these reliefs are 19th century copies of originals by Jacopo della Quercia. You can stand next to the fountain to watch the people in action in the huge plaza, and enjoy the coolness of the fountain at the same time.
