This large façade towers over the Duomo area...unfortunately it was never finished, but imagine how awesome it would have been, if it was. The portion that was completed in the 1300's offers great vie...  more »

If I hadn't read a review on Facciatone we probably wouldn't got in and we would have missed something really unique. Siena from above, wonderful view of one of the most features and the most beautiful in Italy. I recommend buying the ticket at €18 that you will visit with the same ticket Duomo Museum complex of Santa Maria della Scala (which I strongly suggest you visit and set out to visit at least three/four hours), Facciatone, Crypt and Baptistery!!! I strongly suggest you take advantage of this opportunity and to consider for everything (including lunch break) a full day. Returning to the Facciatone, well worth the visit, shame you can stay on the top to admire Siena only ten minutes, maybe less. But again, it's worth it.

We waited the hour in the queue for the 131 Sep climb of the narrow spiral staircase. It was worth it for the excellent views of the Piazza del Campo, the cathedral and of Siena and countryside.  more »

  • More than one hour to wait. Extremely warm inside. No one to explain how long we had to wait. I would have avoided this place.
  • The wait is worth it. Wonderful view of the beautiful city of Siena and its magnificent territory

  • It's very funny because you externally is a "kind of wall", in which you can access inside and climb to the top. The stairs are very narrow and at the top the view of the city is amazing. Highlighting the Duomo of Siena, which is just opposite.

  • For € 8, there was a ticket for the Museum, panoramic, DOM, sacristy and Baptistry. It was worth it alone for the views from the Facciatone. The Museum was rather dull, the panorama course up spectacularly. You can save then must see in Siena, the more expensive city hall tower.

  • From here you can enjoy an amazing view. Absolutely recommended. The stairs are easy and staff is available and willing to used those who suffer from Vertigo.

Where to stay in Siena

To enjoy panoramic views of Siena's historical old town, check into a luxury hotel in the city center. If you are looking to escape the activity of the main tourist areas, consider staying at a hostel or guesthouse just outside the central areas. Private multi-room villas in the residential neighborhoods offer landscaped outdoor space and secure parking. For something a little different and considerably less expensive, explore one of many B&Bs in the vineyards and olive groves of Siena's countryside.
