Art Gallery Gift & Specialty Shop
Stop off at Bianco e Nero di Sonia Staccioli and watch two artisans--a father and his daughter--at work making exceptional pieces of ceramic dishes, sculptures, and painted tiles. Whether you're looking for a souvenir to take home or a gift for someone special, you can browse through a variety of colorful pitchers, bowls, hand-painted plates, and vases. While watching the father paint floral motives, Tuscan landscapes, and symbols of the city, the daughter will be happy to explain the artistic process. Notice the witty “Made in China” sign--with China crossed out and Siena written beneath--suggesting that each piece in the shop is completely local. A visit to Bianco e Nero di Sonia Staccioli represents just the start of the adventure when you use our Siena itinerary planner to plot your vacation.

Where to stay in Siena

To enjoy panoramic views of Siena's historical old town, check into a luxury hotel in the city center. If you are looking to escape the activity of the main tourist areas, consider staying at a hostel or guesthouse just outside the central areas. Private multi-room villas in the residential neighborhoods offer landscaped outdoor space and secure parking. For something a little different and considerably less expensive, explore one of many B&Bs in the vineyards and olive groves of Siena's countryside.

  • I stumbled into this shop which is near the duomo. The hand painted pottery is unique and very lovely. I bought two tiles depicting the contrades. The owners daughter was engaging and happy to answer questions.
