  • Enjoy the walk to the southernmost part of the city to enjoy this great basilica and its astonishing views.
  • Beautiful church.
  • Rich in works of art such as the Madonna del Bordone by Coppo di Marcovaldo (1261), Florentine painter of the Sienese prisoner at the battle of Monteaperti, riscattatosi from prison just for having executed this painting. In the fifth chapel on the right there is the table of Matteo di Giovanni (1491) with the massacre of the innocents. In the right transept is a large cross now attributed to Ugolino di Nerio.

  • Top views of the square directly in front of the Basilica. From the inside, it is but less exciting. Views of the city makes up for it though!
