  • It seems that time has stood still, ein fact it is so. Only one association keeps alive the memory and the charm of this place.

  • This small abandoned village is not quite as easy to find. Access to the village was blocked, only authorized people access was permitted. About detours, it was in the village. You can park his car at the entrance front. It is very impressive to see these houses destroyed by the earthquake, which scenes may have played on a long time ago there? What secrets are the ruins? The sad event from the year 1968 should be approached respectfully. Also, you should be very careful in the collapse-prone buildings. The various ruins offer countless beautiful photo motifs, trees grow from analysts, wide cacti spread on a wall, etc. etc. The ambulance parked in a shed is not obviously from the time of the earthquake, this seems to be more recent. Below, the small fountain is very nice in the village. The water splashes are still in front of him. Here, you can even linger a moment and listen to only the splashing of water, and go in. You should take to drink something, obviously, there are no shops or restaurants in the surrounding area. Guided tours should be possible by appointment.

  • I recommend you book on Sundays, a caretaker opens without problems for free, do not recommend an unauthorized visit (as I was doing myself) really unsafe because there is no reason to risk

  • Poggioreale Vecchia is calked the "ghost city". It's incredible how magnificent this small village was... incredible churces... a theatre!!! The village was partially destroyed by the earthquake in 60'. I recommend to visit it.
  • This place shows you so well, what earthquake can do - fortunately this is not a tourist magnet, so it is quiet and interesting to have a look. If you want to get inside then find your way. There are gates on the way in.
  • Spooky place. Remainings of a city built in 17th century and destroyed during earthquake in 1968. Thanks to volunteer effort, museum available in the remainings of the castle.
  • Wonderful experience: a ghost town, abandoned after an eartquake in 1968, in the Sicilian countryside. It is possible to visit it thanks to an organization and I deeply recommend it if you enjoy adventures. You really fell that the time has stopped there!
  • Hammer!
