Museum I think recently renovated, very well maintained with many exhibits ... one of the many things Italian to be valued ...

The Museum of Sibarite has the only downside, as many do not know, it is not adjacent to the excavation of ancient Sybaris, but it is only a few kilometers, enough anyway for having to pick up the car and go there specifically, although the museum ticket only costs 3 Euros and is valid also for the dig. The building is modern and rational, made of cement and with many Windows that give a lot of brightness. The real treat is the entrance hall, where instead of a staircase to climb to the upper floors, there's a big ramp, no steps, easy to ascend (and descend) even for those with mobility issues! There are many rooms with display cases full of antique objects, each with its description. There are some incredibly beautiful and unspoiled Greek vases ... There are valuables and gold who escaped to "grave robbers" Although, for me, the most typical finding is ... a whole skeleton found nearby and placed in a glass case on the wall, one of the first sale! Recommend a visit to this museum because it can be seen easily in a half an hour or so (if you're in a hurry) or, as happened to me, with a very knowledgeable guide who entertained us pleasantly for over an hour!

Nice Museum. Small but attention to detail. Very beautiful and interesting features artifacts and would require further development. Maybe some guides that explain the history of the site and the features of the exhibits. 8 at the Museum.

  • It contains so few items and of such modest relevance that you should consider going only if you're already there.
  • Yesterday I visited the National Archaeological Museum of Sibari and it was a pleasant surprise. It is, in fact, a display of artifacts from Greek and Roman times truly rich and well maintained. Also signs illustrating the cases are really interesting and useful for the visitor. The Museum is located in a new and built specifically for the purpose for which it is intended and deserves to be visited by more people because I think few in Italy I know that it exists.

  • Although it is a drop in the desert is a Pearl of history. Ancient artifacts and shown and cataloged with much care and attention. To visit if you want to take a step back in time

  • Just take any vocabolario della lingua italiana and look for the entry ' Sybaritic ' to begin to discover something interesting but just visiting this museum you can see what made him so famous this city in the ancient world
