  • A complex not to be missed. Beautiful the square under the Tower, closed between walls, charming covered porch to the Church, once destined to hospitality for pilgrims, particular the Church, with the original altar above the pulpit. The frescoes are very interesting. The Church has a distinctive sound that is often used for professional recordings of music and concerts. The square is often a place of concerts and shows. Around the Abbey there is a park with old trees. The Abbey is the serene heart and one of Italy's most beautiful villages considered one. Best to check the opening times of the Church at the tourist info-point immediately left of the large entrance door on the square.

  • Beautiful .... inaudible the ban to photos in the basilica, probably don't like to share the beauty ... and think that Catholicism is or should be love and brotherhood.

  • So named because then immersed in an extensive wilderness, was founded around the first half of the 8th century. It is a major centre of temporal power in Friuli was second only to the Patriarchate of Aquileia, also through donations, received by Charlemagne, lothair, Berengar. Almost entirely destroyed the Magyars in 899 and rebuilt some 50 years later, the Abbey increased his power not only on the religious level, but also civil, enough to take on the appearance of a medieval castle with its defence system formed by towers and moats. With diploma of 967, Otto I donated to the Patriarchate of Aquileia Sixth Abbey that later, in 1420, came under the domination of the Venetian Republic that entrusted, in 1441. Abolished the commandery, property and the property of the Abbey were auctioned. After several vicissitudes the religious jurisdiction passed to the Diocese of Concordia (1818) and in 1921 the Holy See recognized again the title "Abbey".
