Tonnara di Scopello, Scopello

Take a trip back in time to Tonnara di Scopello, the Mediterranean's only surviving traditional tuna fishery and a popular location for moviemakers. A medieval tower rises above the oleander-, olive-, and almond-lined property. The rocky bay is topped with prickly-pear-covered rocks. Stay overnight inside one of the original fishermen's rooms, take a guided tour through the museum, and explore the underwater archaeological museum on a diving tour of the bay. You can also arrange a sailing trip to the Zingaro Natural Reserve. • Opening hours 9, we get 50 minutes to get in, organization not quite excellent. You put in the deck chairs or on the ground on concrete, since mid-August we are at maximum capacity but the scenery and the sea are amazing, unique place. To do absolutely the guided tour (2 euros), very interesting.

  • Spectacle of nature. We were lucky enough to visit this beach by sea or by land. I recommend, if there was a possibility to rent a boat or take a trip with departures from Castellammare. The reason is very simple, being a private beach entrance you pay the ticket of 4 €/cad. and especially you have to queue for several minutes or hours, because the guards at the entrance let in tot people to avoid too much crowding. For every person who leaves in one row.

  • A lovely, magical, projected into the past by the anchors of the nets for tuna fishing boat, supervised by the tower and protected by faraglioni...in clear water between different fish species! awesome!

  • The location is amazing and breathtaking, but it is privately owned (3.5 Euros entry fee) and you can't really visit anything since the main building has been converted into apartments for rent. Good for taking great pictures and do some snorkeling, but not to spend the day there.
  • Beautiful acces to the ocean. Entry fee 3.50€ (06.2017) The water is crystal clear and the view is amazing. Sun chairs are available and free of charge. Try it!
  • Basically a tourist trap, concrete beach with no special charm or provided services. You pay for nothing, disgusting toilettes and whatnot. You are better off going to the next beach called Mazzo di Sciacca.
  • Beach as any other beach, but with paid entrance. It is definitelly better to get panini and peroni instead than to pay 4e for water in the sea. Btw, no sand there, concrete and stone. Extremely rude staff. This place shall vanish from all guidebooks.
  • Beautiful place but nor worth buying a ticket for. I don't see why I should by a ticket for visiting a natural site like this. We got some nice pictures anyway. I wouldn't recommend this, at least not to buy a ticket for this.
