Tonnara di Scopello, Scopello

Take a trip back in time to Tonnara di Scopello, the Mediterranean's only surviving traditional tuna fishery and a popular location for moviemakers. A medieval tower rises above the oleander-, olive-, and almond-lined property. The rocky bay is topped with prickly-pear-covered rocks. Stay overnight inside one of the original fishermen's rooms, take a guided tour through the museum, and explore the underwater archaeological museum on a diving tour of the bay. You can also arrange a sailing trip to the Zingaro Natural Reserve. • Once this was a nice trap, very active. You can still admire the boats and anchors. Which was restored and now is used as a "beach". In fact, the access to the sea, made of concrete, is used for sunbathing. The sea is clean, boats to offshore permitting. You pay admission is especially in summer it is not easy to find street parking. You can also rent the apartments, very beautiful in the daytime, but at night, in the dark you do alone? You can also admire the stacks, similar to those of Capri, but smaller. See I've been helpful?

  • Very nice location and feature, unfortunately exploited in the tourism. You pay for a ticket to enter, and you are in front of a meat market. People crowded into the ground and on the sunbeds provided that can occupy just free. The water is pretty dirty, because it becomes a kind of pizza in mollo. To find more transparent it is necessary to go further offshore near the faraglioni, though the water is still filled with fuel any vessel that we stop to bathe. Live at the trap so many hungry cats that run between people from which eat away all the food they can find. Poor loves. La tonnara is nevertheless impressive to see from the top of the street, by land and by sea. A view to die for.

  • I went in to visit the stacks and tuna, with my huge surprise I discover that access is forbidden do not log more even paying ticket over the bar! Li presented himself as an agent of the court architect is placed to protect the site and forbids the passage! We inform you that an order of the Court has ordered the seizure of the trap for a dispute with the owners! I stress that all this happened in recent date (January) is not reported in any way by signs or seals, only this individual as a non-public officer gave us this information and we weren't allowed to go down the path that descends to the sea! So if you are ever like us specifically to visit the site avoid making the ride WON'T GET all in an aura of mystery

  • Best seen from a boat in the cove. The rocks change colour according to the position of the sun. The landing of the ancient tuna fishery is used by bathers during the summer and the area can be quite crowded as well as it's parking lot. Very authentic place to visit with a lot of natural beauty in the surrounding area.
  • this place is magic. the sea is wonderful. love it.
  • Parking is 2€ , then 3.5€ per person to access a small place in concrete, no beach where you will have constant comment from the guardian. Your are not allowed to stay where you want , taken in count that the place is very small it's amazing ..no pet and no found allowed. There is better place few km after. Just take a picture from the road and continue to the reserve del zingaro.
  • The beach is great. We were on the right hand side of the beach (not the restaurant side). The chairs and umbrella cost 10€ and the guy working there is very friendly and he speaks English
  • Beach alone is nice. Very limited access to buildings and surrounding area. Vending machines available.
