Stop off at the restaurant for seafood and enjoy the views of the sea. Look up at the legendary rock jutting out over the ocean, where Castello dei Ruffo now sits. • We were in Chianalea in winter but with balmy days and we could therefore enjoy the picturesque beauty of this beautiful village literally immersed in the waters of the Strait of Messina.

  • Chianalea is a charming village on the Costa Viola, characterized by its houses lapped by water, narrow spaces some houses and lead directly to the sea where you can enjoy its crystal clear that leaves peer into the seabed. Walking through Chianalea atmosphere is truly unique, it is possible to appreciate the architectural elements, fountains, churches and ancient buildings, all mixed in with the everyday life of local fishermen manera, detangle their networks and preparing their boats, animating the village. Not far from Chianalea extend about 800 meters of beach dominated by the imposing Ruffo Castle, a truly unique landscape. Recommend to visit this gem of Calabria mainly in summer in order to enjoy the beautiful sea but if you prefer a more quiet probably spring is the best time.

  • We were not given a mini apartment. The area is not central; Breakfast is included but you have to go to a nearby bar where you can eat only things established, as long as they are available. In room refrigerator was not running and the small building was very busy and noisy. The hot water is dispensed via boiler and therefore not always available.

  • Good bed and breakfast consists of a ground floor Studio decently decorated. Only drawback is the distance from the sea and especially the public often included in the price.
